We know that every war has it’s price and many times with so much noise it’s hard to remember the deep impact that conflicts can have. The fight against the Islamic State in Iraq is not over, the government is still engaging in battles with militias in different parts of the country. We can celebrate Victory but we are faced with the reality that the battle to rebuild this nation has just begun and it will take years of hard work ahead of us.
Our missionaries in Iraq walked through the streets of one of the most affected neighborhoods in Mosul. We were awestruck with all of the destruction in the once prosperous and second most populated city in the country. Now reduced to dust and ruins it is undeniable the impact of the destruction. The greatest challenge is to rediscover routine and normality as people return to what is left of their homes.
We were given a property in the suburbs of Mosul and we are blessed to say that the first phase of renovations is finished. We can declare that there is hope amidst chaos and that our
God is a God of miracles. His Love has never and will never fail.
The next step is to furnish this new community center and prepare it to become operational in the coming months. The plan is to invest $10000 to buy chairs, tables, kitchen items, air conditioners for some of the rooms, a pulpit for the church services and a number of other needed items.
It’s time to rebuild and it’s time for Hope. God is rewriting History in the lives of so many that are returning home and we want to be His voice and hands in Iraq.
